I was disappointed to discover today during our Planning and Policy Meeting that the historical monthly Health and Human Services Committee reports have been reduced to quarterly vs monthly and that the decision was made internally by one commissioner, interim administrator and a staff member.
Upon learning about this at the start of our meeting, I motioned to simply add a discussion item about this. The motion failed with a 6-4 vote (Commissioner Rhodea, Wenzel, Zylstra and myself voted in favor and Commissioner Moss was gone today).
Listen to the attempt to add this for discussion beginning at 34:57. https://www.youtube.com/live/2BlsvEC5LMM?si=okrtj6NSTLmnoqf6&t=2098
It has been my experience that the monthly reports add much value in my role in as a commissioner, help to facilitate discussions with constituents, provide timely information, and continue to add knowledge about the work that is happening.
And if monthly reports are not valuable to our community or my fellow commissioners, I’d like to be able to hear that perspective as well, before it’s simply reduced.
