***Sharing an email that I addressed to our interim county administrator, interim deputy administrator, and fellow Board members at 12:30 this afternoon. I’ll be sure to share any updates as I have them.***
“Good morning, Gary and Ron and fellow Board members,
We are embarking on one of the most important tasks we can take on together – the selection of our next county administrator.
As the past Chair of Talent and Recruitment for two years, I have recognized the value and utmost importance of taking the necessary time to review applications and conduct research on behalf of our community we each seek to serve.
It’s with that same desire and duty as an elected representative of my county to come to the table fully prepared to discuss candidates and then vote for who we’d each like to see move forward.
With that said, I have carefully analyzed the necessity to delay our meeting by one or two days that is currently scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 4. I need more time to spend with the 39 applications (which include cover letters, resumes, and two rounds of written questions) that wasn’t made available to us until close to noon yesterday, and respectfully request that this date be changed to this Thursday or Friday. It is each of our duties as representatives of the people to carefully do our homework on each candidate that applied. While Double Haul may share additional information with each of us that might be helpful, it will be no substitute to each of us taking the time to come prepared.”
Grateful to serve,
Allison Miedema
Ottawa County Commissioner
District 11
