Tonight the Ottawa County Republican Party Executive Committee voted unanimously of all members present against the hiring of Patrick Waterman as the new county administrator.

They also posted this statement earlier this week:
“Patrick Waterman’s job in Wyoming is to “champion diversity, equity, and inclusion” in all facets of his role. Ottawa County closed their DEI Department in 2023, and Patrick Waterman quit a few months later and went to work in a liberal city in Kent County. Republicans need to vote for an Administrator who represents Ottawa’s Conservative family values!”
When interviewed this week, Patrick denied knowledge that his job description included these responsibilities, even though his job description has been updated twice under his leadership in Wyoming.
Additionally, Patrick has broken the trust of several current county commissioners and some past working relationships in Ottawa County.
Tomorrow, the Board of Commissioners will be voting for our next County Administrator. I have full confidence that there are several solid candidates that can earn the trust of all of us, without the unnecessary baggage or backward step. May we all have the courage to take the next right step- together. Voting for one of the other finalists based on merit and excellence and who can help bring unity as we continue to work together.
