
With a unanimous vote during the June 24 Board of Commissioners meeting this morning, the Board declares July as Ottawa County Veterans Month and encourages all residents, businesses, and organizations to join in recognizing and supporting our veterans throughout the month and beyond.
On Tuesday, July 1st at 10:00 AM at 12120 Fillmore Street in West Olive, Veterans Services will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on Ottawa County’s first-ever dedicated facility designed to honor and serve our Veterans. Come on out and invite a veteran to join you!
Resolution in its entirety:
WHEREAS, Ottawa County is home to thousands of veterans who have honorably served in the United States Armed Forces, demonstrating courage, sacrifice, and commitment to the nation; and
WHEREAS, the veterans of Ottawa County have made invaluable contributions to the community, state, and country, upholding the values of freedom, democracy, and service; and
WHEREAS, it is vital to recognize and honor the bravery, sacrifices, and dedication of veterans, as well as to acknowledge the support of their families, dependents, and allies; and
WHEREAS, Ottawa County is committed to providing resources, services, and opportunities that enhance the well-being of veterans, assisting them in successfully transitioning to civilian life and ensuring they receive the benefits they have earned; and
WHEREAS, the designation of July as Ottawa County Veterans Month will provide an opportunity to express gratitude, raise awareness of veterans’ issues, and encourage the community to actively support and engage with local veteran initiatives; and
WHEREAS, throughout July, Ottawa County, in collaboration with local organizations, businesses, and community members, will host events and programs that recognize and celebrate the service of our veterans, including outreach efforts, educational programs, and commemorative ceremonies.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners hereby declares July as Ottawa County Veterans Month and encourages all residents, businesses, and organizations to join in recognizing and supporting our veterans throughout the month and beyond.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect immediately and be made part of the official records of Ottawa County.
