Action Items:
* With a unanimous 11-0 vote during the June 24 Board of Commissioners meeting this morning, the Board declares July as Ottawa County Veterans Month and encourages all residents, businesses, and organizations to join in recognizing and supporting our veterans throughout the month and beyond. More details can be found on a separate post I made today.
* Within the FY25 Budget Adjustments, item 08-787 from the General Fund and Corporation Counsel is seeking $28,000 to allocate contingency for the payment of legal services related to the Crockery Lake Agreement.
This budget adjustment passed with a 7-4 vote.
I voted against this.
Reason for my No vote – I do not support the legal costs associated with this item. The Board of Commissioners who were duly elected to serve from 2023-2024 approved spending money on water restoration efforts. I do not support the Board Leadership of 2025-2028 usurping the previous Board’s vote. We could be spending our money on restoring water quality vs. legal services actively working to undo our 2024 contract.
