As we close out 2025, I want to thank the people of our great county for continuing to provide encouragement, prayers, and reaching out via email or phone with questions or constructive feedback.

One highlight from this past year included increasing the bandwidth of our Veteran Services Department – designating July officially as Ottawa County Veteran Month, along with 70+ outreach efforts, our first-ever Veterans Job Fair, service to over 200 veterans at the Second Annual Veterans Stand Down & Resource Fair, and the launch of Legacy Link to better support senior veterans and their spouses. These highlights represent only part of the work happening every day to strengthen veteran support across our county.

Another personal highlight from this past year included being invited to the White House State Leadership Conference and making connections for some of the key areas that Ottawa County and Michigan care deeply about.

During that conference, Secretary Scott Turner, delivered a highly motivational speech and he continues to be boots on the ground with the Trump Administration, gearing up to deliver effective housing strategies in order to retain our youth while simultaneously caring for our aging population.

I look forward to more work in 2026 that bridges local issues with state and national leadership.

Grateful to serve,

Allison Miedema
